I have started my senior year at Neuqua Valley, along with other NBCM alumni. I have continued the effort to be an exemplary student, and I’m planning to major in Biology or pre-medicine in college next fall.
In addition to a challenging academic course load, I participate in the DuPage County ACT-SO (Academic, Cultural, Technological-Scientific Olympics) Program. It is a youth initiative under the DuPage Branch of the NAACP which culminates in an annual competition at the College of DuPage. I received the silver medal in the Medicine-Health category this past March and have set my sights on a gold medal in that category at the conclusion of this year’s competition in March 2015. If I achieve that honor, I will represent the DuPage Chapter at the National competition next summer.
I have been very active in the Teen Choir and Praise Team at our church (Jubilee Baptist). Soon I will begin the preparatory meetings for the Student Ambassadors participating in next summer’s People to People delegation to Spain, France and Italy.
I have earned three varsity letters in track and field at Neuqua Valley, and competed in the shot put at the Illinois State Girls Track and Field Meet at Eastern Illinois University this past May. Due to my ninth place finish in the state meet, I have received numerous inquiries from track programs which include Yale, Cornell and the University of Tennessee.
From Mr. and Mrs. Griswold:
We attribute both of our daughters’ academic accomplishments and strong Christian faith to the nurturing environment they experienced at NBCM. You have been a blessing to our lives since early 2004 when Brianna entered preschool with Mrs. Marilyn as her teacher. I still recall the words she spoke about her during the prayer for the Kindergarten graduates. Mrs. Marilyn talked about her having a strong sense of right and wrong. I am so happy to say that is still true of her, as well as Olivia!
